Ion Tamaian's unique creations have become well-known in Romania and throughout the world. His artistic-functional glass items have been sold in several galleries stretching from Western Europe to Japan and Hong Kong.

As a young boy growing up in Bordlesti, a village in Northwest Romania, Ion was influenced by the simplicity of rural life as well as the glassblowers in the local factories. The beautiful sunflowers and acacia trees of Transylvania were as much a part of his childhood as the mines and factories of pre-revolutionary Romania.

This combination of traditionalism and modernism is evident in Ion's works of today; inspired by the old ways, he breaks through this realm into a new and ever innovative world of glass art.

Ion Tamaian graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Ion is inspired by everyday life, creating functional works of art which highlight almost any decor. His one-of-a-kind works usually foretell the next line of functional items- whether it be human figures, seascapes, or echos of rhapsodies in history.
