Few painters alive today capture mood and atmosphere as well as impressionist Royo. His use of sweeping brush strokes and bold swaths of color have been compared to the old masters, and the appeal of his work extends from first–time collectors to the world’s most prestigious art connoisseurs. With a style that is both classical and unique, Royo has received art’s highest honors.
Born in 1945 in Valencia, Spain, Royo began demonstrating his artistic ability at the early age of 9, where he showed a remarkable talent for drawing, painting, and sculpture. At the age of 14, he was admitted to the prestigious San Carlos Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where he soon began receiving accolades. But even then, he was embarking on a new artistic journey.

in order to capture the light, the shadows, and the intensity of his newest subject: the Mediterranean.
By the 1990s, Royo had already cemented himself as one the world’s greatest living artists. But as he continued to perfect his form, his use of dramatic color and texture was again mentioning his name along with the great masters. His concentration on painting ‘the female form’ in particular had critics comparing him to perhaps the most loved impressionist, Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
Today, Royo’s profound ability to capture the dramatic essence of his subjects remains unparalleled. His work continues to be the standard for a new generation, and has proven to be some of the most collectible in the art world.
